    The first workshop in the Basics Series introduces students to the fundamentals of cake decorating with the round Box of Hearts cake. Designed with the complete beginner in mind, students can expect to have learned the basics of setting up a round cake.

    Workshop Overview:

    This is the first workshop in our 10 module Basics Series program; you can either approach 101 as starting point for the Basics Series, or attend it as a stand alone workshop to introduce you to the fundamentals of cake decorating.  In this workshop you will learn how to set up, cover and decorate a round cake; the round cake is the first shape we teach in the Basics Series and is a perfect place to start for beginners. The “Box of Hearts” cake not only teaches you the fundamentals of setting up and covering, but you will learn how to achieve Planet Cake’s famous razor sharp edges, cover seams, ice your board and employ four different cake decorating techniques.  Planet Cake’s goal is to teach students skills that they can replicate at home with the same results.  All classes are taught by teachers with Trade qualifications and a minimum of 10 years’ cake decorating experience.
